Spuffy Stuff   by slaymesoftly

Moving right along with my habit of updating and not publishing the updates, here we are almost at the end of November. Not much new to add that i can think of, except a little between the episodes thing for Fantasmagoria’s challenge for Buffy’s trip to see Angel after she came back from the grave. Gave it a Spuffy twist, cause that’s how I roll. :) You can find it at Conversations About Dead People. I’m working on a couple of things, but they aren’t fleshed out yet and don’t have titles.  Wishing everyone a good Thanksgiving holiday and I’ll try to be back in December with any new additions to the Fic list.

And before I got the below October entry posted, it was almost the end of the month (21st).  My SS date has come and gone, and the fic will be available up here in a day or two. You’ll be able to find it at Out of the Blue. It’s a pretty retro Season Four fic that was inspired by several very small moments in Pangs and Something Blue. They gave me some room to posit a slightly softer Buffy and a bit less evil (and more into the Slayer) Spike. And we all know what happens with them if other things don’t get in the way.... There’s some nice Spike, Giles friendship because I like to think they would have eventually gotten along better than in canon, and even some Willow and Xander Spike appreciation from time to time.

I also knocked out a one-shot, INK , set in the comics Season Nine, right after issue #1 and during early issue #2.  If I haven’t already done so, I will be making a new section on the Main Fics list for those set in the comics verse, as it seems I may be doing more and more in that realm. If nothing else, the comics seem to be providing a lot of room for fic that goes off canon immediately and is probably going to be jossed as soon as it’s posted. :)

And now it’s October! OMG. My Seasonal Spuffy date is the 13th (I think) so that’s coming up. I think that may be all I’ve done lately. September seems to have whisked past without pausing to see if I had anything important to do.

It’s August! Summer vacation is rapidly disappearing with, as usual, not much having been done. *sigh* I did, however, finish a fic I started on 18 months ago. The first two chapters were to meet prompts at Taming the Muse, then I found that another story I’d begun would be easier to use for the weekly prompts, and I left this sitting in my wip folder.  So, now I’ve finished it with two more lengthy chapters that complete the plot (such as it is) and get Spike and Buffy back home where they get a hint of what’s to come in the next instalment in this series. The fic is entitled Pop Goes the Weasel.

Check out the Home is Where They Have to Take You In page  to see, in addition to the art that inspired it, a book cover made for it by appreciative reader useyourlove who created her cover for an art community on Live Journal.ETA - okay, for some reason, the page won’t save with the book cover art on it; I’ll have to figure that out before you can see it. Grrrr

Starting work on my probably Seasonal Spuffy fic. Going to be a retro Season Four, I think. That’s the plan right now, anyway. :)

And now it’s mid-June and hotter than hell. *sigh* Have just posted the last chapter of

Home Is Where They Have To Take You In

and made it its own webpage on here, so there you go. Enjoy.  And, no, I have no idea why I can’t make this a continuous sentence. Something to do with the link.  Doesn’t matter. :)

And it’s mid-May, 2011, already. One very kind reader who is working her way through this site (bless her!) is keeping me apprised of any broken links, and I’m fixing them as I get them. As I think I said on LJ, the Schmoop Bingo fics are going to be the death of me! Some were so short, I put several on one page, and then forgot what I called the page;  some I just flat out forgot to make a page for; *sigh* and then others had the usual typo issues in the url. I really must stop being so lazy and start checking every page after I put it up. Seriously.  Any time now...

Currently working on the fic I posted on the Open Posting day of Seasonal Spuffy. (Home Is Where They Have to Take You In) It’s the below-mentioned AU future fic that completely ignores the comics. It’s pretty long, word-wise, although only eight chapters have been posted anywhere so far. It will probably finish out at twelve chapters or so, but I don’t think any of them are under 3000 words. So, yeah, wordy. :)  As usual, the version that goes up here after the fic is completed will be the cleanest and most “finished” version. I never totally stop tweaking, but... yeah. They’re usually safe from my tinkering by the time they go up on this site.

End of April - Time flies when you’re having fun... All I’ve got for April is my contribution at Seasonal Spuffy. Making it Work is an early Season Four multi-chaptered fic that follows right on the heels of the two below-mentioned Schmoop Bingo ficlets.  I’m now working on an AU future fic that ignores the comics completely. Yay?

More March - Okay, my post Season Eight fic is completed and you can find it under Every Time You Say Good-Bye.  The story introduced some new characters, and has a few loose ends floating out there, so I’m hoping to be able to get something else set in that season completed before Joss and DH go back to work and make it all very, very AU. :)   Now, I’m working on my very retro Seasonal Spuffy fic,. Set in Season Four, it follows my last two Schmoop Bingo Fics, Not Tonight, Honey (anniversary prompt), and Taming the Demon, which don’t have separate pages, but can be found at Season Four Schmoop  for anyone who wants to prepare for it by reading it’s prequels.

March, 2011 - well, here we are, mid-March and nothing much to add. Thanks to a few thoughtful readers, I’ve fixed some bad links. Remind me never to post as many different stories at one time as I did when I put up all those Schmoop Bingo fics! It’s a disaster waiting to happen. I think everything’s okay now, but if I’m wrong, please let me know. :)

The post Season Eight fic is almost ready to go up. It’s all written, but the last couple of chapters needs some more tweaking before I’m ready to put it up here.  I’ve posted a page called Season Four and Five Schmoop. Not sure if it’s one I’m correcting, or if I had to add another page for those fics. Either way, it’s good to go now. Or it will be as soon as I’m finished here...

February, 2011 - okay, a few bad links have been spotted and fixed. I also added another schmoop ficlet that may or may not be on the combined schmoops page. It’s called “Nights Off Are Over-rated” and now it has its own page. Also now available, the sequel to “Not Ready”, which has turned out to be thirteen chapters, some of which are Spuffy rather than Spander. But all is well by the end, and the boys are back together. It’s called “The Best of Friends”

I’ve begun a new Spuffy fic, set right after Issue #40 of the Season Eight comics, but, as always, it won’t get a page on here until it has been completed. Could be a while, but I’m working on it.  :)

January, 2011

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you had a good holiday and that 2011 is good to you. I’ve got nothing new to report. I’m working on a sequel to “Not Ready” (Spander) but it’s going slowly.  Just fixed some messed up links caused by my putting up too many fics at that same time late in the year.  Please, please, if you find something wrong with a link, let me know about it. (And thank you to E.T. for alerting me that Normal is Just a Word was a bad link)  That’s all for the start of the year. With luck, I’ll have new fic to post by February.
